Has it not, then, become plain to those who have inherited the earth in the wake of the former generations that, had We so willed, We could have afflicted them for their sins, (they, however, are heedless to basic facts and so) We seal their hearts so that they hear nothing. 100 Such were the townships. We relate some tidings of them unto thee (Muhammad). Their messengers verily came unto them with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), but they could not believe because they had before denied. Thus doth Allah print upon the hearts of disbelievers (that they hear not). 101 and in most of them We found no [inner] bond with anything that is right - and most of them We found to be iniquitous indeed. 102 After the time of those people, We sent Moses with Our miracles to Pharaoh and his people, but they too rejected Our miracles. Consider, how terrible the end of the evil-doers is! 103 Moses said: "O Pharaoh! I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds,- 104 [Who is] obligated not to say about Allah except the truth. I have come to you with clear evidence from your Lord, so send with me the Children of Israel." 105 (Pharaoh) said: "If indeed thou hast come with a Sign, show it forth,- if thou tellest the truth." 106 Thereupon he cast down his rod, when, lo it was a serpent manifest. 107 And putting his hand in his bosom, withdrew it – so it shone brightly before the beholders. 108
