The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 that hide, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 The rising dawn, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
