۞ And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing 51 When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?" 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them." 53 He said, 'Then assuredly you and your fathers have been in manifest error.' 54 They said: 'Is it the truth you have brought us, or are you one of those that play' 55 Abraham replied, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them, and I bear witness to that. 56 And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away." 57 So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question]. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers." 59 They said: "We heard a young man talking (against) them who is called Ibrahim (Abraham)." 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 "Did you do this to our gods, O Abraham?" they enquired. 62 He answered, "Rather this biggest one of them did it. Ask them, if they can speak." 63 Then they thought and observed: "Surely you are yourselves unjust." 64 Thereafter they were made to turn over upon their heads, saying, assuredly thou knowest that they speak not. 65 Abraham said, "So, do you worship something instead of God that can neither benefit you nor harm you? 66 Fie upon you and upon that which ye worship beside Allah! Will ye not then reflect? 67 They said, “Burn him and help your Gods, if you want to.” 68 We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!" 69 And they wished to cause him harm, so We made them the greatest of losers. 70 for We saved him and Lot, [his brother's son, by guiding them] to the land which We have blessed for all times to come. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob as an additional gift, making each of them righteous. 72 and appointed them to be leaders guiding by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good deeds, and to perform the prayer, and to pay the alms, and Us they served. 73 We bestowed upon Lot sound judgement and knowledge, and We delivered him from the city that was immersed in foul deeds. They were indeed a wicked people, exceedingly disobedient. 74 And We took him into Our mercy; surely he was of the good. 75
