Verily Jonah is one of the apostles. 139 When he fled on the laden ship, 140 So he shared (with them), but was of those who are cast off. 141 The fish then swallowed him and he blamed himself. (For not waiting for Allah’s command.) 142 And had he not been of those who [even in the deep darkness of their distress are able to] extol God's limitless glory, 143 He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised. 144 ۞ But We cast him, upon the shore, and he was ill, 145 and caused a gourd tree to grow over him, 146 And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. 147 and they believed. So We let them enjoy life for a while. 148 (Muhammad), ask them, "Do daughters belong to your Lord and sons to them? 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Verily, it is of their falsehood that they (Quraish pagans) say: 151 "God has begotten [a son]"; and verily, they are lying [too, when they say,] 152 Did He choose daughters rather than sons? 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 Will you not then mind? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Then produce your writ, if ye are truthful. 157 They have said that there is a relationship between Him and the jinn. The jinn certainly know that they will all be brought to suffer torment. 158 Exaltations to Allah above what they describe, 159 Except the slaves of Allah, whom He choses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islamic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allah). 160 But as for you, and that you worship, 161 Can mislead anyone away from Him, 162 except those who are doomed to enter hell. 163 As for us, there is none but has an appointed station. 164 “And indeed we, with our wings spread, await the command.” 165 And we are they who exalt (Allah)' 166 And they surely were wont to say: 167 If we had but a reminder from the men of old 168 “We would certainly be the chosen bondmen of Allah.” 169 But they disbelieved in it; soon they shall know! 170 Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to our Servants sent (by Us), 171 will certainly be victorious 172 and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. 173 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile, 174 And watch them, for they will soon see. 175 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 176 When it descends upon their courtyards, evil will be the morning of those forewarned. 177 Stay away from them for a while 178 And watch; they will come to know soon. 179 Glory be to your Lord: the Lord of Glory is far above what they attribute to Him. 180 Peace be with the Messengers (of God). 181 It is only God, the Lord of the Universe, who deserves all praise. 182
