He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And whereas he fears, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 but others will be gloomy 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
