The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
