The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
