He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 For him who does not care, 5 to a rich man, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And he fears, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
