The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when the souls are paired 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 that hide, 16 And the close of night, 17 And the breath of morning 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
