He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 to a rich man, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he feareth 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and purified. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
