The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
