The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the sun and his brightness, 1 And by oath of the moon when it follows the sun 2 Consider the day as it reveals the world, 3 by the night when it covers the earth with darkness, 4 And [by] the sky and He who constructed it 5 And the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 And given the faculty of knowing what is disruptive and what is intrinsic to it. 8 Surely blissful is he who hath cleansed it, 9 And indeed he fails who corrupts his ownself (i.e. disobeys what Allah has ordered by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism or by following polytheism, etc. or by doing every kind of evil wicked deeds). 10 (The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride, 11 What time the greatest wretch of them rose up. 12 But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!" 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 And He does not fear the consequence thereof. 15
