The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Praise be to God. He has sent the Book to His servant and has made it a flawless guide (for human beings) 1 (He hath made it) Straight (and Clear) in order that He may warn (the godless) of a terrible Punishment from Him, and that He may give Glad Tidings to the Believers who work righteous deeds, that they shall have a goodly Reward, 2 wherein they shall remain forever, 3 And to warn those who say, "Allah has taken a son." 4 they have no knowledge of it, they nor their fathers; a monstrous word it is, issuing out of their mouths; they say nothing but a lie. 5 Perhaps you may destroy yourself with grief if they do not believe in this message. 6 Lo! We have placed all that is on the earth as an ornament thereof that We may try them: which of them is best in conduct. 7 And lo! We shall make all that is thereon a barren mound. 8 Or, do you think the companions of the Cave and the tomb stone were a wonder among Our signs? 9 (Remember) when the young men fled for refuge (from their disbelieving folk) to the Cave, they said: "Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way!" 10 And thereupon We veiled their ears in the cave for many a year, 11 Thereafter We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best at reckoning the time that they had tarried. 12
