The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
