Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
