The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 and the sea that is full 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 none can avert that. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
