The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 And shade extended 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgins. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
