The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
