The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
