Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the winds which scatter dust, 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 And those who move (on the water) gently, 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 indeed, that which you are promised is true, 5 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 surely, you are in different sayings, 8 Deluded away from the Qur'an is he who is deluded. 9 Accursed be the conjecturers 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask: "When is the Day of Judgement?" -- 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 [And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient." 14 The pious ones will live amidst gardens and springs, 15 Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good; 16 they would lie asleep during but a small part of the night, 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? 21 And in heaven is [the source of] your sustenance [on earth] and [of] all that you are promised [for your life after death]: 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as true as your speech. 23
