The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a host of the ancients 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
