Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In the high empyrean, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
