And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 And were ye to obey a human being like you, ye are forthwith to be losers. 34 Promiseth he unto you that ye, when ye have died and have become dust and bones, ye are to be brought forth? 35 ۞ What you are promised is indeed far-fetched. 36 There is naught but our life in this world; we die and we live and we shall not be raised again. 37 He is but a man who hath fabricated against God a lie, and in him we are not going to be believers. 38 He said: "O my Lord! Help me because they deny me." 39 [Allah] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful." 40 Then the shout laid hold of them in truth, and We made them a refuse; so away with the wrong-doing people! 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 No nation will precede its time [of termination], nor will they remain [thereafter]. 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after the other. Every time an apostle came to a people they denied him. So We made one follow the other (to its doom), and turned them into bygone tales. Cursed be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 To Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people. 46 And so they said: "Shall we believe [them] two mortals like ourselves - although their people are our slaves?" 47 Thus, they gave the lie to those two, and earned (thereby) their place among the doomed: 48 And We gave Moses the Book that people might be guided by it. 49 And [as We exalted Moses, so, too,] We made the son of Mary and his mother a symbol [of Our grace,] and provided for both an abode in a lofty place of lasting restfulness and unsullied springs. 50
