The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 and gently take it away; 2 And by those who float in space, 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 by the managers (angels) affair. 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
