The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
