Thamud denied the warning 23 For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness. 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 They shall know tomorrow whichsoever is a liar insolent. 26 Surely We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; therefore watch them and have patience. 27 And tell them that the water [of the well] is to be divided between them, and that each one should drink in turn." 28 But they called their companion who took a sword and hamstrung her. 29 Ah! how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 30 For We sent against them a single Mighty Blast, and they became like the dry stubble used by one who pens cattle. 31 We have made the Koran an easy Remembrance, is there any that will remember! 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 And certainly he warned them of Our violent seizure, but they obstinately disputed the warning. 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 And assuredly there met them early in the morning a torment settled. 38 We said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 39 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. 40
