The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and shade extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
