The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
