Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
HA MIM. 1 A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful, 2 A Book whose verses have been distinguished and explained, a lucid discourse for people who understand, 3 Good tidings and a warning. But most of them turn away so that they hear not. 4 And they say: our hearts are under veils from that whereunto thou callest us, and in our ears there is heaviness, and betwixt us and thee there is a curtain; work thou then, verily we are workers. 5 Say (unto them O Muhammad): I am only a mortal like you. It is inspired in me that your Allah is One Allah, therefor take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe unto the idolaters, 6 Who give not the poor-rate; and they! in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers. 7 [But,] verily, they who have attained to faith and do good works shall have a reward unending! 8
