Have you heard the story of Abraham's honored guests? 24 When they came to him saying, "Peace be with you," he replied to their greeting in the same manner and said to himself, "These are a strange people". 25 Then he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf, 26 So he brought it near them. He said: What! will you not eat? 27 So he conceived in his mind a fear on account of them. They said: Fear not. And they gave him the good news of a boy possessing knowledge. 28 And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman!" 29 They said: "Even so says your Lord. Verily, He is the All-Wise, the All-Knower." 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "Messengers, what is your task?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, 32 “To throw upon them stones of baked clay.” 33 "Marked as from thy Lord for those who trespass beyond bounds." 34 Then We brought forth such as were therein of the believers. 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Moosa, when We sent him with a clear proof towards Firaun. 38 Then he turned away with his court, and said: a magician or a madman. 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 And in Aad. We let loose on them a withering wind 41 It left out nothing in its path, but which it split up into fragments. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 In response they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them whilst they were watching. 44 Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And the people of Nuh We destroyed aforetime; verily they were a people transgressing. 46
