The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
