The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
