The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And shade extended 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
