He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 To him you attend; 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and in awe of God 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and dense orchards, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 and from his mother and father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
