The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
