The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
