Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 you are not their keeper. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
