The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
