۞ When [Jesus] the son of Mary is held up as an example, your people raise an outcry on this, 57 and say: "Which is better - our deities or he?" [But] it is only in the spirit of dispute that they put this comparison before thee: yea, they are contentious folk! 58 He is naught but a bondman: him We favoured, and him We made an ensample unto the Children of Israil. 59 And if it were Our Will, We could make angels from amongst you, succeeding each other on the earth. 60 And most surely it is a knowledge of the hour, therefore have no doubt about it and follow me: this is the right path. 61 And let not the Satan hinder you; verily he is unto you an enemy manifest. 62 NOW WHEN Jesus came [to his people] with all evidence of the truth, he said: "I have now come unto you with wisdom, and to make clear unto you some of that on which you are at variance: hence, be conscious of God, and pay heed unto me. 63 Surely Allah is my Lord and your Lord, therefore serve Him; this is the right path: 64 Yet the parties differed among themselves. So woe to those who did evil among the punishment of a Painful Day. 65 Are they waiting (for any thing) but the Hour (of Doom) which would descend upon them suddenly, and catch them unawares? 66 Close friends will turn into enemies of one another on that Day, except the pious. 67
