In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the (winds) sent forth in quick succession, 1 storming tempestuously 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 thus separating [right and wrong] with all clarity, 4 and then giving forth a reminder, 5 excusing or warning, 6 Assuredly, what ye are promised must come to pass. 7 When the stars are obliterated, 8 And when the heaven is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are blown away 10 And when the time of the Noble Messengers arrives. 11 To what day is the doom fixed? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 Would that you knew about the Day of Judgment! 14 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 15 Have We not destroyed the earlier generations? 16 We shall then send the latter after them. 17 Thus deal We ever with the guilty. 18 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 19 Did We not create you from a worthless water (semen, etc.)? 20 which We placed within a sure lodging 21 For a known period (determined by gestation)? 22 Thus did We Plan and how excellent is Our planning! 23 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 24 Have We not made the earth a container 25 The living and the dead, 26 And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water? 27 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 28 Proceed to that which you denied. 29 "Depart ye to a Shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 which neither provides (cooling) shade nor protection against the flames; 31 that shoots sparks like dry faggots, 32 As if they were tawny camels. 33 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 34 That will be the Day on which they will not (be able to) utter a word, 35 nor shall they be permitted to offer excuses. 36 On that day, woe would be those who have rejected God's revelations! 37 Such is the Day of Decision. We will gather you with the ancients. 38 So if you have any ploy, try it against Me! 39 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 40
