The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
