The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
