Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
