And a sign unto them is the dead land. We quicken it and thereout We bring forth grain, so that thereof they eat. 33 and produced therein grains from which they eat and established therein gardens of palms trees and vineyards and have made streams flow therein 34 that they might eat of its fruits and their hands' labour. What, will they not be thankful? 35 Exaltations to Him who created pairs of all the things the earth produces and of themselves, and that of which they have no knowledge. 36 A sign for them is the night. From it We withdraw the day and they are in darkness. 37 The sun is running its course to its appointed place. That is the ordaining of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing. 38 And the moon -- We have determined it by stations, till it returns like an aged palm-bough. 39 It behoves not the sun to overtake the moon, neither does the night outstrip the day, each swimming in a sky. 40 And a sign for them is that We lodged them in a laden ship, while they were in their forefathers backs. 41 And We have created for them the like of it in which they board. 42 And if We should will, We could drown them; then no one responding to a cry would there be for them, nor would they be saved 43 Unless it be a mercy from Us, and as an enjoyment for a while. 44 And when it is said to them: Guard against what is before you and what is behind you, that mercy may be had on you. 45 Yet there never comes to them any sign of their Lord's signs, but they turn away from it. 46 And when it is said to them: "Spend of that with which Allah has provided you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe: "Shall we feed those whom, if Allah willed, He (Himself) would have fed? You are only in a plain error." 47 And they say: "When will this promise (i.e. Resurrection) be fulfilled, if you are truthful?" 48 They are awaiting only for one Cry to seize them while they are yet disputing, 49 then they will not be able to make any testament, nor will they return to their people. 50
