Hizb 46
< random >
And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 When he ran to the laden ship, 140 And then they cast lots and he was the one who lost, 141 Then a (big) fish swallowed him and he had done an act worthy of blame. 142 And had he not been of those who [even in the deep darkness of their distress are able to] extol God's limitless glory, 143 He would have stayed in its belly till the day the dead are raised. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, 145 And We made a gourd tree grow over him. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (folk) or more 147 and they believed. So We let them enjoy life for a while. 148 So inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females, while they were witnesses? 150 Is it not a lie invented by them when they say: 151 "God has begotten children." They are truly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 What is amiss with you and your judgment? 154 What, will you not remember? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Then bring your book, if ye say sooth. 157 And they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment]. 158 Glory be to Allah (for freedom) from what they describe; 159 Not (so do) the Servants of Allah, sincere and devoted. 160 neither you nor what you worship 161 You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him 162 Except one who is (destined) to burn in Hell. 163 And the angels say, “Each one of us has an appointed known position.” 164 Lo! we, even we are they who set the ranks, 165 And we are they who exalt (Allah)' 166 And indeed they used to say: 167 "Had we received guidance from the people living before us, 168 we would have certainly been sincere servants of God". 169 And yet, [now that this divine writ has been placed before them,] they refuse to acknowledge it as true! In time, however, they will come to know [what it was that they had rejected]: 170 Our word had already been given before to Our votaries, the apostles, -- 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer. 173 Therefore turn away from them till a time, 174 And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see. 175 Then for Our punishment are they impatient? 176 Then, when it descends into their courtyard (i.e. near to them), evil will be the morning for those who had been warned! 177 Stay away from them for a while 178 And wait, for they will soon see. 179 Glorified be your Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they attribute unto Him! 180 And peace be upon all His message-bearers! 181 and all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe. 182
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
