The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 shun uncleanness; 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
