And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
