۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He will say, "By God! You almost brought me to ruin! 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 Are we then not to die 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 They found their father going astray 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
