The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
