The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 The Romans have been defeated (by the Persians) 2 in a land close by. But, after their defeat they shall become the victors. 3 In some few years. Allah's is the command, before and after. And on that day the believers will rejoice. 4 in God's succour: [for] He gives succour to whomever He wills, since He alone is almighty, a dispenser of grace. 5 This is Allah's promise and He does not go back on His promise. But most people do not know. 6 They know an outward part of this life, but of the Everlasting Life they are inattentive. 7 Have they not thought that God has not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them but for a genuine purpose to exist for an appointed term? Many people do not believe in their meeting with their Lord. 8 Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed the earth and built it up more than they have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves. 9 Evil was the end of the harmdoers, because they belied the verses of Allah and mocked at them. 10
